These restrictions must be adhered to at all times while roleplaying. If you feel one of the rules below is being broken, please let us know through contact the mods. Thank you.

Expletives: All expletives are allowed. However, if a character is to be colorful and describes explicit sexual situations, that is not.

Sex: Fades to black are required for everything more hot and heavy than making out. At the player's discretion, sexual situations may be played out in character journals. Any player playing out sexual situations will be assumed to be of age in their locality, and it is their responsibility to find out the age of their RP partner. The sexual situations may be referenced in game, but euphemisms are encouraged, and any explicit description is not allowed.

Violence: Broken bones, blood, pranks, fights, and magical duels are common place within our game. Descriptions of the above are thus also common. However, descriptions of injuries should not be designed to gross out other players. Internal organs should not leave the body and be described in ways that are unsettling.

Darkness: Some of the themes of our game, as well as the themes of the Harry Potter books as a whole, are dark. This includes death, depression, and other sundry topics. There are also evil characters, who have evil thoughts and do evil things. Darkness should contribute to the plot of the game, or the characterization of the character. Darkness for darkness' sake is discouraged.

Drugs/Alcohol: Teenagers often experiment with alcohol. In Canon, third years and up visit Hogsmeade and drink butterbeer, which appears to be mild alcohol. Wild teenage parties also occur within our game. However, players are encouraged to consider the effects of alcohol consumption and especially over indulgence. Drug use should be insinuated and not overt -- drug use is not common, and the consequences of being caught should and would be grave. Playing out the bodily effects of drug use, if used in character descriptions, is required. The smoking age is 16, smoking is not allowed on school grounds. Students may have designated their own 'area' (away from younger years) for such, and should they be caught, the player must be prepared to play out the consequences of being caught.

Special Permission: Mod permission is required for personal plot involving triggering issues (cutting, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders etc.), drug abuse and non-school organised parties.

Upon leaving Hogwarts in 1945, Tom Riddle travels wide and far, sinking deeply into the dark arts in his quest for immortality and power. He undergoes many dangerous magical transformations and consorts with those considered the "worst" of the wizarding world. He reappears in the early 1970s as Lord Voldemort. Few recognise him as Tom Riddle.

And so it began... )

Because who doesn't want to thread with Dumbles? )

So, comment if you'd like to thread with Dumbles, or if you'd like Dumbles to intervene in a fight or wander by and notice something...

Notice to Students (posted in various places, but a very large posting on the door to the Great Hall)

Within Hogwarts and its grounds, all celebrations and parties exceeding 10 persons henceforth must be accompanied by a Faculty Chaperone.

Any persons found at a celebration exceeding those limits without a chaperone shall have 10 points removed from their houses each, and will be served with detention, the length and the number of which being up to the Faculty's discretion.

Any concerns about this may be brought to any of the current Faculty. Please be advised that this is for your own safety.

Information for Saturday, December 3rd and Sunday, December 4th:

Any character who was in the Slytherin Common Room at the time of the attack is now in the Hospital Wing, and will remain in the Hospital Wing for the length of Sunday. Certain characters will have to be confined to the Hospital Wing for a longer period of time, at the discression of Russiani.

Any Slytherin who was not in the Common Room at the time of attack has been moved to the Great Hall, where sleeping bags have been set up for them.

All other characters are confined to their Common Rooms for the day.

Prefects will have been roused early in the morning and told the basics of what has happened. There was an attack on the party, there is one student dead and many injuries. Heads of Houses will be around, but look to their prefects to help keep order and calm within their respective Common Rooms.

In addition, if your character has a family member in the Hospital Wing, they will be permitted to leave their Common Room and escorted to the Hospital Wing on Sunday. Only family members, and only after the more serious injuries have been tended to.

Students will be allowed out of their Common Rooms on Monday, though classes will be canceled. Classes will resume on Tuesday.

If you have any questions, please comment here and ask, we'll answer as quickly as possible.

No students will be allowed threading anywhere but the hospital and the common rooms until future notice. So, if you're in the hallways or ANYWHERE but the common room, assume a Prefect or a teacher sent you to your dorms.

Only the injured and one guest will be allowed in the hospital wing.

The day has OFFICIALLY CHANGED.

It is now Sunday, October 30th. There's no Prophet as of yet, because really, it doesn't arrive until the morning, and we assume most of you will be threading "just past midnight."

Much Love,

If you're wondering why the Prophet isn't out, don't. There's a reason it hasn't been released yet, but keep going with the day change as usual.

Secondly, because it's Hogsmeade weekend, your threads in Hogsmeade (both Saturday and Sunday) can continue until the day change to Monday. Remember that with Hogsmeade threads, you can also have 1 thread going in our regular Hogwarts threads (just like classroom threads), and, you can have multiple threads within Hogsmeade, provided you can properly keep tracking of timing.

...

Now that I'm finished channeling my inner Laura, I'm hoping you all can suggest splendid costume ideas for me for the ball by providing some helpful suggestions in the form of graffiti in my journal with your less than splendid and not-quite perfect handwriting.

OKAY!

So, some pretty awesome changes are going down in the next little while.

+ 1. Until we get more teachers, the mods are going to begin having NPC Professors. This mean your character will actually HAVE class to go to! Huzzah!

+ 2. We are now allowing your NP characters to be played in more than just NP. HOWEVER, keep in mind that this is really more complicated than you may think. You have to keep both characters COMPLETELY separate, and it is your responsibility to do so. The characters within the different RPGs may evolve completely differently, and you MUST keep them like that. If you're planning on doing so, please take advantage of LJ features like friends filters, and inform the mods in [info]np_officials.

+ 3. We've been approached by the mods of OUAT ([info]onceupona_hp) about having a joint event. This event would be NON-CANON, meaning anything that happened there wouldn't affect your own characters IG (particularly because NP is set in 2005 and OUAT in 1981). This event is also completely voluntary, so do NOT feel you need to participate! But, this could be lots of fun, and it means your characters get to attend two Halloween balls! This will be IG for OUAT characters, however, so if your NP character had relationships with an OUAT character, make sure whatever you do coincidences within what is canon for their OUAT character. (For example, [info]maggiedowney and [info]bastian_myles were only two years apart in NP, but in OUAT they're 7 years apart. Or, in NP, [info]romeo_remy will have only been gone for less than a month, whereas in OUAT, he'll have returned to the school after a year). Make sense?

DON'T WORRY, we'll be providing more details and more instruction soon, (particularly for the OUAT/NP event as the date grows closer, which'll be early December). We just wanted to let you know about these fabulous and exciting new developments! Any questions can be directed to the "Contact the Mods" post in [info]np_officials. Thanks guys!
